LAPAROSCOPIC SURGERY

Laparoscopic Surgery Also known as minimally invasive surgery (MIS) or laparoscopy, is a surgical procedure that involves inserting a thin surgical instrument equipped with a camera into the abdomen or pelvis through one or more small incisions. The camera transmits live images of the internal organs to a monitor for surgical guidance, and the procedure is performed through small incisions.

Laparoscopic Surgery

Patients who undergo these procedures benefit from the same therapeutic benefits as those who undergo traditional open surgery, but with substantially less post-operative pain, fewer days in hospital, faster recovery, and better cosmetic results. Laparoscopy is a minimally invasive alternative to open surgery that involves viewing the abdomen with a small camera called a laparoscope. Small openings in the abdominal cavity allow it to happen. An endoscope with an attached micro-camera is inserted through a small incision in the longitudinal crease of the umbilicus, providing a panoramic image of the organs in the abdominal cavity on a monitor. The laparoscope transmits an image of the internal organs to a screen, allowing the surgeon to perform various surgical procedures while being guided by the image. The laparoscope magnifies the image many times its original size, allowing a better view of the abdominal organs

Benefits

Unlike regular surgery, working with this method has significant advantages. Because it requires less chopping:

  • Your scars are smaller.
  • You can leave the hospital earlier.
  • As the scars heal, you will have less pain and they will heal faster.
  • You can resume your usual activities sooner.
  • There is a chance that you will have fewer internal scars.

Here's an example: Traditional procedures may require you to stay in the hospital for a week or more for colon surgery, with a total recovery time of 4-8 weeks. If you have laparoscopic surgery, you may only need to stay in the hospital for two nights and recover in two to three weeks. Also, a shorter hospital stay is usually less expensive.
