The Allurion Program and the Allurion Gastric Balloon have been shown to be effective through peer-reviewed clinical studies. This means that balloon-related medical research has undergone a rigorous review process to ensure the accuracy, relevance, and significance of the study results. These are some of the clinical studies we are proud of…

term: from virtual follow-up to Virtual Care Suite
Main author: Dr. Roberta Ienca 2022
Who participated in the study?
522 patients from 9 international obesity centers participated in this study. The objective of this study was to determine the short- and long-term efficacy of the Allurion Program at 4 months and 1 year after balloon removal using the Allurion digital tools.
What was the results?
Mean total body weight loss was 13.9% at 16 weeks, and 13.4% at one year after removal of the Allurion Balloon. The study shows that weight loss with the Allurion Program is not temporary, since on average 96% was maintained 1 year later.
Study 4

Lead author: Dr. Ioannis Raftopoulos
Presented at the American Society for Metabolic Surgery
and Bariatric 2021
What was analyzed in this study?
This study looked at the impact of the Allurion Gastric Balloon and lifestyle intervention on weight loss. The study included 140 people who received the Allurion Gastric Balloon and the lifestyle intervention and 413 patients who received the lifestyle intervention alone. The lifestyle intervention included a structured program of nutritional guidance, physical exercise, and behavior modification. Weight loss results were measured monthly for one year.
What was the results?
Average total body weight loss was 14.9% at 16 weeks, with no complications for patients. The study revealed that the Allurion Program leads to almost 2.5 times more weight loss than a lifestyle change program alone. In addition, patients continued to lose weight after balloon removal, with an average loss of 16.9% per year.
